Creepycait, Halloween edition

October 31, 2013

Last weekend I was stalking through Facebook and saw everyone’s photos in costumes, “Is everyone celebrating Halloween this weekend?” I asked my boyfriend.  He was driving and I was in the passenger seat.  Without looking away from the road or even reacting he replies, “yeah, it’s Halloween weekend”.  Me, “Say what?  How come I didn’t know?  All my friends went out and no one called to invite me!”  Straight face, eyes on the road, hands on the wheel, he replies, “Gotta party to get invited to party.”

Just like that huh?  Crazy how life changes and priorities shift.  Halloween used to be a BIG DEAL.  What I wore, where I was going, who was going to be there, how I was going to get there and how I would get home.  It was an event.

About two years ago my boyfriend bought me the best Halloween outfit.  Its warm, figure hiding and a guaranteed hit at the party:

Last year I decide to spice it up a bit and got a more adult outfit:

We went to a Halloween party that year and I forgot the sword at home, I was PISSED.

This year I missed the boat on the parties and I am really okay with that.  At this stage in my life, wearing sweat pants and knitting on the couch is a dream saturday.  If I stay up passed 11 o’clock…watch out!

Last night I was asked to be the main speaker at a rehab.  I showed up to find out it was an NA meeting.  I have never done narcotics.  I could imagine that it’s a much harder lifestyle then I will ever know.  I went up there and shared anyway.  After, a number of girls came up to me and said that I shared their story.  That they could relate to it all.  That’s the thing about moral bankruptcy, doesn’t matter if you get there through a bottle or a needle, it all feels the same.

Be safe out there tonight.  Call a cab or be a homie and volunteer to be the sober driver.

Happy Halloween!!!! I can definitely relate to the comfort of staying in and knitting away. Can’t wait to get together and get our knitting on. I wish I could’ve made the meeting last night. I love you!

  3. One of my favorites was being “Geena” Simmons from KISS. 🙂 My favorite holiday. Though no crazy parties for me this year either.
